Steam Turbines
Steam turbine CHP is usually selected when a cheap, non-premium fuel (e.g. waste material) is available. This fuel can be burnt and the released heat can be turned into steam in a boiler. It is also particularly suited to sites where the heat requirement is high in relation to the power demand. Steam turbine CHP is very reliable, and turbines can achieve a long-term availability of up to 99%. Units are available with power outputs of 0.5MW upwards.
